The Family Boats pt. 1

SmithSkiff

This is “SmithSkiff” – a 1957 22′ Chris Craft Sea Skiff that belongs to Alan and Faye.  Alan is my grandfather’s nephew (and my grandfather is the grandson of the founder of Chris Craft).  Faye wrote to me the following about SmithSkiff:

It was originally built to be a fishing boat and was made to WORK.  It wasn’t made to be pretty or show . . . simply to be a workhorse.  They expected it to have a lifespan of approximately 10 years . . . boy-o-boy were THEY wrong!

I can see how it can be a workhorse, but you know what, she is a beauty too.  I enjoyed riding in her this past weekend at the Lake Keowee Antique Boat Festival.
